Scholastic Book Fairs Chooses FOLLOWING ATTICUS

It's only Wednesday and already I'd say this is a pretty special week.  Will continues to improve; Atticus and I had a great event last night speaking to the Grafton County (NH) Bar Association at their spring dinner; my vegan diet has reached five weeks, I'm down eighteen pounds, and really enjoying the food; and other new adventures have appeared on the horizon.

On top of all of this, Will has added so much to our home.  We've had to adjust to his arrival but our lives are richer because of him.  He teaches us lessons we need to know, he offers love, he has added to the quality of our lives.  Sure he's come with some physical challenges, and that was even before last weekend's 'episode' that had tears flowing and hearts aching, but what it has cost us is minimal compared to what he's added.  We're so fortunate to have Will in our lives.

And today, Nicole Martella, Special Sales Representative at HarperCollinsPublishers, sent out this very exciting announcement regarding Following Atticus.  I've included it below...

I’m very pleased to share that Scholastic Book Fairs will include FOLLOWING ATTICUS (paperback - 9780061997112) in their fall book fairs. Their order of 12,996 copies will be shipped in July. We are excited they chose this inspirational story and feel that it will sell well to their adult customers.

Great news: successful vegan diet, big book sale AND the continuation of Will's recovery. Tom, if you have a chance would you blog a bit about what vegan cookbooks or resources you are using? I'd really appreciate it, and congrats on the weight loss! Although there was a positive weight gain when Will arrived! :-) Hugs to all.

I am so pleased that Will has recovered. I have checking your blog 10 times a day for news. What a relief and fantastic news. I so hope that he gets the chance to go up a 4000 footer, even if you have to carry him!...

Congrats!!! The more people who read the book = a better world. Didn't know the book was available in paperback. Makes it a little easier for me to buy a stack to have available to hand out to folks. I find myself regularly stopping "strangers" to tell them about the book, blog & Facebook page :-)

I read your book two weeks ago, and am so glad to hear that so many more people will get exposure to your wonderful story.

You have a kind heart, taking on Will and giving him a soft place to fall and some love.

I was so happy to hear that Will is improving!! You are a wonderful writer and sweet person, so I am not surprised with Scholastic's willingness to buy up your book! Congratulations to you, Atticus, and Will for enriching so many lives through your wisdom and adventure- anyone can learn from your lessons. I've recommended your book to many friends who also loved your reflections. I will continue to follow your progress, and hope you write another book of new adventures! Best regards from Judy, and my schnauzer, 11 year old Charley. Peace!
