Following Atticus: Forty-Eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship by Tom Ryan is published by William Morrow. It tells the story of my adventures with Atticus M. Finch, a little dog of some distinction. You can also find our column in the NorthCountry News.

Garfield; February 13, 2007

On Tuesday we hiked a 4,000-footer for the fourth day in a row. This is a record for us. And I'm happy to say that even though the last four days have been windy and cold we are both doing just fine. On Tuesday we hiked Garfield, one of my favorite mountains. It has breathtaking views of Franconia Ridge, the Twins and down into the Pemi Wilderness. Today's summit temperature was - 15 degrees and was very windy (just check out Atticus' eyebrows in one of the photos). With the storm coming in and predicted to be dumping major snow in the Whites, we've returned to Newburyport for a day or two and then we will be back on our quest.

It just keeps amazing me, Blog after Blog, how Atticus would just sit and take it all in. Such a beautiful sight.
